The hogs were located at a local area farm in the RM of Lorne.

RCMP attended the local farm with the complainant and gained entry to the barn under the Animal Care Act. Clear evidence of severe neglect was observed. A large number of hogs were found deceased and decomposing in the barn.

Manitoba Agriculture, Food and Rural Initiatives was contacted and attended the scene.

While RCMP provided assistance in the initial investigation, the matter will be further investigated by Manitoba Agriculture, Food and Rural Initiatives / Office of the Chief Veterinarian Officer.

RCMP will provide assistance as required.

Does anyone have more info on this horrible scene? What is going on here? I can’t imagine the owners were not allowed into see their own hogs. Please let me know more….

Now that there is an official Provincial Vet investigation there won’t be much information coming out unless the owners are willing to speak out. It would be interesting to know why it took so long to realize there was a problem – or to act upon the suspicion of a problem. Like I said on the newest Chore Time, someone always knows, but why don’t they speak out?

I heard this barn recently caught fire, cause suspicious. Is this true, or just a rumor?
